FAQ-About Kitchen Sinks

Q1: What is the difference between 16-gauge and 18-gauge stainless steel?

A: Gauge refers to the thickness of the steel.

The lower the gauge number, the thicker the steel. A 16-gauge sink is thicker and more durable than an 18-gauge sink – it resists dents from heavy pots, lasts longer, and is naturally quieter.

All SINKROX stainless steel sinks are crafted from premium 16-gauge for professional-grade durability.

Q2: Can stainless steel sinks rust?

A: High-quality stainless steel like SINKROX's 16-gauge does not rust on its own. However, orange or brown marks can sometimes appear – these are usually surface deposits from iron in the water, steel wool pads, or cast iron cookware left in the sink while wet. These stains can be easily removed with a mild cleanser or a paste of baking soda and water, followed by a vinegar rinse.

Q3: What is a quartz composite sink? How durable is it?

A: Quartz composite sinks are engineered from about 80% crushed quartz stone mixed with acrylic resin. They are highly durable, scratch-resistant, heat-resistant up to 535°F, and feature a non-porous surface that resists stains and is easy to clean. SINKROX quartz sinks also feature smooth rounded edges, water-sealed drains, and are available in black, white, and grey finishes.

Q4: Are SINKROX sinks heat-resistant?

A: Yes. Stainless steel sinks can safely handle hot pots and pans – they are completely heat-proof. Quartz composite sinks are heat-resistant up to approximately 535°F .

Q5: Single bowl or double bowl – which should I choose?

A: Single bowl sinks offer extra-large capacity – they easily fit baking trays, large stockpots, and woks. They are ideal for home cooks who use large cookware or entertain frequently.

Double bowl sinks allow separate zones – wash on one side, rinse or drain on the other. Most SINKROX customers prefer single-bowl sinks for their versatility, and with our Workstation ledge system, you can add a secondary bowl or colander on top for the best of both worlds.

Q6: What is a workstation sink?

A: A workstation sink is a kitchen sink with built-in ledges along the rim that securely hold accessories like cutting boards, colanders, drying racks, and thawing trays. Instead of taking up counter space, you place accessories directly on the sink – turning it into a multi-purpose prep station.

Q7: What accessories are included with SINKROX Workstation sinks?

A: Every SINKROX Workstation sink comes with a complete accessory bundle – typically including a solid wood cutting board, colander, draining basket, and more. Premium models may also include a defrosting tray, roll-up draining mat, or secondary bowl. You get a full prep station out of the box.

Q8: Do Workstation sink ledges collect debris? Are they hard to clean?

A: SINKROX Workstation ledges are designed with smooth surfaces and rounded edges, making them easy to wipe clean. A quick wipe after each use keeps them hygienic – food particles do not get trapped.

Q9: Is a workstation sink worth the investment?

A: If you value functionality, efficiency, and style – especially in kitchens with limited counter space – a workstation sink is absolutely worth it. It saves counter space, streamlines food prep, and creates an organized workflow. However, if you rarely use accessories, a standard sink may be a more suitable choice.
